Founded in 2019, we specialize in investigative reporting, freelance writing, documentary production, media consulting, and podcast creation. Our work is guided by a commitment to editorial rigour, accuracy, and independence. We serve clients across Canada and internationally, producing content that meets the highest professional standards.

Who is on the Mymspgoat team?

Our team of four brings together diverse expertise in journalism and media. Marc-Andre Tremblay is the founder and lead journalist, with years of experience in investigative and editorial work. Sarah Mitchell serves as Managing Editor, overseeing editorial quality and project coordination. David Lavoie is our Documentary Videographer, responsible for all video production from pre-production through final edit. Priya Sharma works as our Media Consultant, advising clients on strategy and communications. You can learn more about each team member on our About page.

Do you work in both English and French?

Yes. Mymspgoat operates fully in both English and French. Our team members are bilingual, and we produce content, reports, and media in whichever language the project requires. Our website is also available in both languages. If your project needs deliverables in both languages, we can accommodate that as part of the scope.

Where are you located?

Our office is at 247 Elgin Street, Suite 304, in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (postal code K2P 1L9). The office includes an 85-square-metre workspace and a dedicated 12-square-metre editing suite for audio and video post-production. We welcome in-person meetings by appointment and also work with clients remotely across the country and abroad.

What are your business hours?

We are open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time. Saturday meetings are available by appointment only. We are closed on Sundays and Canadian statutory holidays. For urgent matters outside business hours, please send an email to hello@mymspgoat.com and we will respond as soon as possible during the next business day.

Is Mymspgoat affiliated with any media group or government body?

No. Mymspgoat Inc. is an independent private enterprise incorporated in Ontario. We are not affiliated with any government organization, media group, or public institution. Our editorial independence is fundamental to the quality and credibility of the work we produce for our clients.

Services and Process

What services does Mymspgoat offer?

We offer five core services: Investigative Reporting (short, standard, and in-depth investigations), Freelance Writing (feature articles, op-eds, content series, and per-word commissions), Documentary Production (short-form to feature-length films plus standalone post-production), Media Consulting (strategy sessions, audits, newsroom training, and monthly retainers), and Podcast and Audio (single episodes, series packages, and audio editing). Visit our Services page for the complete price list.

How does a typical project begin?

Every project starts with an initial conversation - either by phone, video call, or email - where we discuss your goals, scope, timeline, and budget. Based on that discussion, we prepare a detailed proposal outlining the deliverables, schedule, and pricing. Once you approve the proposal and provide the 30% deposit, work begins. Throughout the project, we maintain regular communication so you are always informed of progress.

How long does a project take?

Timelines vary by service and complexity. A short investigation typically takes one to two weeks, while an in-depth investigation may require six to eight weeks. Feature articles are usually delivered within two to three weeks. Short documentaries take four to six weeks from pre-production to final cut, while feature-length productions can require several months. Media consulting sessions and podcast episodes can often be completed within one to two weeks. We always agree on a timeline before work begins.

What formats do you deliver in?

Written deliverables are provided in standard document formats (Word, PDF, or plain text) unless your publication requires a specific format. Documentary and video projects are delivered in broadcast-quality formats suitable for web, television, or festival submission. Podcast episodes are delivered as mastered audio files in MP3 and WAV formats. We can accommodate specific technical requirements if discussed at the start of the project.

Do you handle sensitive or confidential topics?

Yes. Handling sensitive material is central to investigative journalism, and our team is experienced in working with confidential sources, legally sensitive information, and embargoed content. We follow strict protocols for source protection and data security. If your project involves confidential material, we can discuss specific safeguards during the initial consultation and formalize them in our project agreement.

Pricing and Payment

How much do your services cost?

Our prices range from $450 for a two-hour media strategy session to $16,500 for a feature-length documentary production (prices exclude HST). Investigative reporting starts at $2,800 for a short project, freelance writing starts at $750 for an op-ed, and podcast episodes start at $950. You can view the complete pricing for every service tier on our Services page. All prices are in Canadian dollars, and HST of 13% applies in Ontario.

What is included in the quoted price?

Each project price includes the full scope of work described for that tier - research, production, writing or filming, editing, and two rounds of revisions. For documentary projects, this covers pre-production planning, filming, and post-production. For writing projects, it includes research, interviews, drafting, and editing. Travel expenses, if required, are quoted separately. Equipment and standard production tools are included.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. We require a deposit of 30% of the project value before work begins. This secures your place in our production schedule and covers initial research and planning costs. The remainder is due upon delivery of the final product. For ongoing retainers, payment is due at the start of each month.

What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel your project within 14 days of signing the agreement and receive a full refund of your deposit, no questions asked. If you cancel after work has begun beyond that 14-day window, a kill fee of 50% of the total agreed project value applies. This covers the work already completed and the resources allocated to your project.

Do you offer B2B payment terms?

Yes. Qualified business clients may pay on Net 30 terms, meaning the invoice is due within 30 days of delivery. This is available for registered businesses with an established relationship or upon credit approval. The 30% deposit requirement still applies at project start. Please mention your preference for B2B terms during the initial consultation.

Is there a minimum project value?

Yes. The minimum project value is 500 CAD (before tax). This ensures that every engagement receives the proper attention, planning, and editorial oversight that our clients expect. For smaller needs, consider our media strategy session at $450, which provides focused professional guidance within a single two-hour session.

Rights and Deliverables

Who owns the content once it is completed?

Full copyright transfers to you, the client, upon receipt of final payment. Until that point, Mymspgoat retains the intellectual property rights to all work produced. This means that once you have paid in full, you may use, publish, distribute, or license the content as you see fit, without further permission or fees.

How many revisions are included?

Every project includes two rounds of revisions at no additional cost. A revision round means a consolidated set of feedback that we incorporate into the work. If you need changes beyond those two rounds, we can accommodate additional revisions at an agreed hourly rate. We encourage clients to provide thorough feedback in each round to make the most of the included revisions.

How long do you archive completed projects?

We maintain archives of all completed projects for 36 months (three years) from the date of delivery. During this period, you can request copies of your deliverables, raw materials, or project files at no charge. After the 36-month archive period, files may be removed from our systems. If you need longer retention, please let us know and we can arrange extended archiving.

Can I publish the work under my own name or brand?

Yes. Once copyright has transferred to you upon full payment, you are free to publish the content under your own name, your organization's brand, or any byline you choose. If you prefer that Mymspgoat's involvement remain confidential, we are happy to work under a non-disclosure arrangement. Simply raise this during the initial consultation so we can include the appropriate terms in the project agreement.

What file formats will I receive?

Written content is delivered in Word (.docx) and PDF formats by default. Video deliverables come in broadcast-standard formats (typically H.264/MP4 for web and ProRes for broadcast). Audio files are delivered in both MP3 (for distribution) and WAV (for archival quality). If your workflow requires specific formats - such as plain text, XML, or particular video codecs - let us know at the project outset and we will accommodate your needs.

Getting Started

How do I contact Mymspgoat?

You can reach us by phone at (613) 555-0184 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM ET), by email at hello@mymspgoat.com, or through the contact form on our Contact page. For in-person meetings at our downtown Ottawa office, please book an appointment in advance.

What is your typical response time?

We respond to all inquiries within 48 hours during business days. Most initial requests receive a reply within 24 hours. If your matter is time-sensitive, please mention that in your message or call us directly during office hours. For ongoing projects, your assigned team members are available for regular check-ins and respond to project-related communications promptly.

What information should I prepare before contacting you?

To make our first conversation as productive as possible, it helps to have an idea of the following: the type of project you have in mind (investigation, article, documentary, consulting, or podcast), the subject or topic area, your intended audience, your approximate timeline, and your budget range. You do not need to have all the details worked out - that is what our initial consultation is for. Even a rough idea of what you need is enough to get started.

Do you offer free initial consultations?

Our initial conversation to discuss your project needs and determine whether we are a good fit is provided at no charge and with no obligation. This is typically a 20-to-30-minute phone or video call where we learn about your goals and you learn about our process. If the project moves forward, we then prepare a formal proposal with detailed pricing and timeline. The paid media strategy session (two hours, $450) is a separate, more in-depth service for clients who need structured strategic advice.

What is your geographic range?

While our office is in Ottawa, we work with clients across Canada and internationally. Written work, media consulting, and podcast production can be handled entirely remotely. Documentary and investigative projects may require travel depending on the subject and locations involved - travel costs are quoted separately as part of the project proposal. We have experience working with clients and sources in multiple provinces and countries.

Can I visit your office?

Absolutely. We welcome clients to our downtown Ottawa office for meetings, project briefings, or to see our editing suite. All visits are by appointment - please contact us to schedule a time that works. Saturday visits are also possible by prior arrangement. Our office is centrally located on Elgin Street with convenient access to public transit and parking.

Still Have Questions?
